We have arrived at a point that is very similar for the fan and fin heatsink as it is for the 3.5" floppy drive. Yes there are still some of them available, but the number is down considerably from what it was years ago. The main reason we are seeing less of the fan and fin design is the use of heatpipes in heatsinks. When the heatpipes were first implemented on CPU coolers we say maybe one or perhaps two pipes if they went all out. Now it more common to four or six heatpipes and to top it off the heatpipes are usually double the size of the some of the
originals.
That brings us the heatsink we are reviewing today, the AeroCool SilverWind Heatpipe CPU Cooler. This aluminum heatsink
we are reviewing today has a total of two 60cm heatpipes attached to the base of
the aluminum block which has a total of one hundred and four fins.
