As more and more DirectX 11 games are released to the market the need for a video card that supports DirectX 11 is about to become a necessitate.  The card we are going to be testing today could best be called an entry level DirectX 11 video card, with a price tag of about $90.00 if you buy this card thinking you can crack the setting to max and play all the games you want, you are going to one very upset individual.  Now if you purchase this card and realize that if you give the card half a chance you will find out that you have a very nice video card for office work and video games as long as the setting are not set to high.

Packaging

Looking at the front panel of the HIS Radeon 5670's carton you can see that this device employees HIS's very own IceQ cooler which will operate cooler and quieter than a stock video card cooler will.  This new card from HIS is also PCI Express 2.1 compatible, PCI Express 2.1 supports a large proportion of the management, support, and troubleshooting systems planned to be fully implemented in PCI Express 3.0. But, the speed is the same as PCI Express 2.0.

This card also has 512 MB of GDDR5 memory which is are extremely fast memory modules.  The card also broadcast in 1080P with full HD capabilities'.  Perhaps one of the best features is the fact that the card also has HDMI capabilities.

Moving to the rear of the carton we will find a total of 5 icons which are pointing out the high-lights of this particular video card.  Stating with the advanced IceQ coller which will cool 20% more than a stock cooler and does it with half the noise.  Next is the ability to run this card in Crossfire technology, even with the card running another card exactly like the cards will remain cool thanks to the IceQ Cooler.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that this card is a double-slot card and the vent that directs the warm air off of the video card card out the back of the cooler using one of the vent openings at the rear of the system.  The last icon mentions that the entire cooling assembly on the HIS HD 5670 is UV reactive.

In an effort to insure the video card arrives in perfect shape, HIS has repackaged it into another carton that slides into the original shipping carton.  Once it is in place is Sea Foam blue box the card is placed into a plastic cradle where it rests until you receive it.

A Closer Look

The HIS IceQ Radeon HD 5670 is a very well laid out card, the card is actually broken down into two parts.  The first part is the UV Reactive IceQ 3 cooler which is far better at cooling the video card and is also 20% quieter when it comes to noise.  The IceQ cooler work in such a way as to blow the warm air out the rear of the case rather than blowing it around the inside of your case and raising the internal temperature of the inside of the case.

Looking a bit more closely at the components used on the card you will notice if you know anything about the components on modern day cards that HIS Technology uses the latest and components on their cards and there is no need to fear the ruptured capacitor fiasco that happened in the past.

HIS HD 5670  supports supports the “ATI Eyefinity” technology which basically means that you can attach a monitor to each of the connectors on the card thus having three monitors on one card.  Those connectors are DVI, VGA and HDMI connectors.

In this picture you can see how the second slot is used for the heatsink and attachment plate that is used to secure the video card to system it will be used in.  The 5670 has no auxiliary power connection so once plugged in it is ready to go.

If you have yet to experience the fun of DirectX 11 here is a simple and inexpensive way to do just that. The current price at Newegg for the HIS Radeon HD 5670 video card is an amazing $89.90, and with this card you will have the opportunity to play for the current line-up of games that your older vide card may note be able to handle.  You might have to set some of the filter setting to low on some of the newest games but that is far better than not being able to play at all.  Check it out and see what you think and if you like our review let us know.
