Bjorn3d - Leadtek was nice enough to send us a Winfast GTX-260 to take for a test drive. Having heard the cries of our readers we decided to take a different tack at this test drive and do a direct comparison between the Leadtek GTX-260 and an XFX 8800 GT Alpha Dog. Going more in depth with a head to head comparison between an old favorite and the new kid on the block.
So set back, get your favorite beverage and snack handy and together we'll see if the Alpha Dog can run the GTX-260 off the porch.
Case Mod: MCE2.0 by Sleepstreamer
Bit Tech - Sleepstreamer, aka Max or "Mad Max", is easily one of the most talented of modders on the bit-tech rolls. His high-tech and heavy-industry projects tend to take his chosen materials (acrylic and aluminum) to a whole new level.
....
I'll use the "Industrial-tech" theme I created for my first mod, Cold-Fusion. Below, you can see a sketch of how I was wanting the completed case to look.
AMD SB750 arrives on the Foxconn A79A-S...
Anandtech - Our first AMD SB750 equipped motherboard arrived this weekend courtesy of Foxconn. We have been working around the clock to dispel or verify the rumors about how a simple update to the SB700 SouthBridge could unlock the overclocking potential of the Phenom processor series. It turns out changes to the SB750 are actually significant and include a new low level link interface that AMD has named Advanced Clock Calibration. Along with the new ACC technology is a significant update to the AMD Overdrive Utility and required BIOS code changes for this new interface to operate properly.
Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 Video Card 100243L
Benchmark Reviews - When it comes to ATI products Sapphire has always offered the most influential graphics cards available, and the new Radeon HD 4870 is no different. For the first time in this industry, we have a fully-functional product equipped with 900 MHz GDDR5 video frame buffer. The Sapphire 100243L model offers 24x custom filter anti-aliasing (CFAA) on its 750 MHz 800-core RV770 GPU. Benchmark Reviews tests the Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 graphics card against the closest competition, and even compare CrossFireX performance in this performance review.
Thermaltake Duorb VGA Cooler
SPCR - The Duorb by Thermaltake is one of many GPU coolers available to PC enthusiasts who want better than stock cooling. It is a dual fan cooler like the Xigmatek Battle-Axe, but is only equipped with two heatpipes. Its basic design is similar to the Zalman VF900-CU, which was a star in its day. The VF900 is simply too small to effectively cool most current GPUs. A larger radial cooler with a massive fan would seem like an obvious evolutionary step, but you can only make it so big before it touches the expansion slots on the motherboard.
ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series Custom Filtering AA
[H]ardocp - The goal of this article is to specifically focus on AMD’s new Edge-detect Custom Filtering AntiAliasing (CFAA) image quality and the performance you can expect when using a new ATI Radeon HD 4870 video card. While this is not an AMD vs. NVIDIA article, we do use a GeForce GT 260 for IQ comparisons. For those that did not notice, we did feature AMD's new AA modes in both our Radeon HD 4800 series launch day evaluation as well as our HD 4870 X2 Preview, but we simply did not want to lose focus on overall performance and have chosen to showcase CFAA here, all on its own.
Fallout 3 Hands-on
Voodoo Extreme - One of the more surprising appointments I had this year at E3 with was Bethesda. After waiting in the lobby a few minutes for the old people to finish up, we were herded into the demo room, told to take a kiosk and they let us loose on Fallout 3. I had no idea they going to let us play without some sort of talky opening introduction or presentation, so immediately my weary mind began to perk up. This was the last day of the show after all. By this point I was functioning only with the help of the Starbucks downstairs and probably too many Ephedra tabs for own good.
Alienware Area-51 m15x notebook review
Techspot - We have been fortunate enough to test some of these computers over the past few years. Back in 2005 we tested the Aurora ALX desktop which prominently carried its Athlon X2 badge, at the time one of the fastest desktop processors on earth. Then in August 2006 we checked out the Aurora m9700 gaming notebook, the first notebook to ever use Nvidia's SLI technology.
Unfortunately as impressive as this looked on paper, the Aurora's SLI implementation that relied on two GeForce 7900GS graphics cards was crippled by an underpowered processor. At the time the 2.4GHz AMD Turion64 processor was simply not fast enough to push FPS near the level of a desktop system.
HIS HD 3650 512MB IceQ Turbo
Hardware Logic - If you've never heard of HIS before, we can hardly blame you. With ATI sitting on the sidelines for so long, Nvidia has enjoyed a long run of market dominance, giving enthusiasts plenty of time to get familiar with BFG, Evga, XFX, and other Nvidia add-in board partners (AIBs). My how the game has changed. Not only is ATI competing again, but its giving Nvidia a serious run for the performance crown while also managing to price its product line one step ahead of the competition. If this trend keeps up, expect to hear a lot more from HIS and other ATI partners.
Radeon HD 4870 X2 - 2048 MB Preview
Guru3d - It was known for a while already that AMD's ATI is developing a new product under codename R700. Guru3D has a nice preview of what AMD is going to launch real soon, the Dual-GPU based Radeon 48x0 X2 series of products.
In very short wording, you take a large PCB (printed circuit board), slap two 4870 processors and a bridge-chip on there and call it a Radeon 4870 X2. It's surely not the most elegant method of getting a graphics card in the high-end segment, it is however as this preview will show you, a very effective one.
ASUS P5E64 WS Professional X38 Workstation
Think Computers - “Today I will be looking at ASUS' workstation motherboard based on the X38 chipset, the P5E64WS Professional. It is similar to the earlier board in that it has the capability for a quad of graphics cards, DDR3 system memory, and other features that will satisfy the enthusiast as well as the engineer. This one has even more features for the enthusiast, and a much more serious heatpipe cooling system. Fortunately, I will be able to pack more than one GPU onto this board, so hopefully I'll be able to better see the graphics capabilities of the board. Stay tuned to see!”
Toshiba Satellite M300 Laptop Review
Digital Trends- "Toshiba's latest business notebook, the M300, won't blow your hair back with whiz-bang features and record-shattering performance, but it's a very solid package that covers all the basics one needs in a laptop that's somewhere between an ultra-portable and a desktop replacement. This 14.1" notebook is tastefully appointed in a Titanium Silver finish, weighs just 5.2lbs, and has one of the best keyboards we've ever sampled in a notebook. Though its trialware issues and long boot time are easily remedied, its lack of security features -either biometric or facial recognition - are disappointing on a laptop aimed at business users. Overall it's still a surprisingly well-polished machine that is extremely affordable and easy to live with."
Kingwin 1000w Mach1 PSU Review
Overclockers Cafe - The Overclocker Cafe' has posted a review covering the Kingwin 1000 watt Mach 1 Power Supply. The Kingpin Mach 1 series separates itself from its competitors by some first class cable wrapping and aircraft style screw type connections for it's modular lines. That and of course clean, stable high power. Here's a snip from their review.
The modular cables with varying lengths offer a variety of and plenty of connectors with reach for any system.

EVGA nForce 750i SLI FTW
Guru3d - eVGA decided to make a new cheaper mainboard
opposed to 780/790, designed it l33t and sexy. They named their new baby the
eVGA nForce 750 FTW. Where FTW literally means "For The Win". Now if
you send a product with "FTW" in the actual name then as a company
you need to have some pretty big balls, as any reviewer will see if that
product lives up-to the reputation.
